Program GDF-trip to Ireland in September 2014

Trip to Ireland in September 24-27 2014.

GDF is proud to present the semi-final program for their visit to Ireland.
The visit will start Tuesday night with dinner and welcome on September 24. GDF will end the official part of the trip on Saturday September 27 after lunch. There are many opportunities to make plans for a touristic visit to Dublin before the trip or to the popular South-West region of Ireland after the trip.

GDF Trip Ireland 2014

In cooperation with David Murphy – Dairy Ireland
Trip includes Tuesday night dinner, Sep. 23 – lunch on Saturday Sep. 27.
The trip starts in Dublin area and ends in Cork area
(so fly in to Dublin on Tuesday and out from Cork on Saturday)

Tuesday (optional day not included in trip)
Arrival in Dublin – city tour etc.
Ploughing championship (one hour from Dublin)
Official start trip with Dinner on Tuesday night

Afternoon Arrival at Dublin airport and transportation to the hotels
19.30 Dinner and welcome at hotel in Dublin
Speaker from the Dept of Agriculture – introduction in the Irish Dairy Industry

Wednesday Sept. 24 2014
Early morning Visit Irish Dairy Board
Travel from Dublin to Kilkenny city (2 hours)
Late morning Farm visit (high input all year calving system)
Lunch
Afternoon Visit Glanbia milk processor
Evening Hotel and dinner in Kilkenny area
(Travel to Lismore County Waterford stay 2 nights in Lismore House Hotel)

Thursday Sept 25 2014
Morning Visit South East of Ireland
Two farm visits in area
Lunch
Afternoon Bus journey to Moorepark Research Centre
2pm Visit Moorepark Research Centre (several researchers and expert in farm management, R&D, feed, barn construction).
4.30pm Travel to hotel
Evening Cultural event and dinner (Dinner at the home of David and Fiona Murphy)
