The calculated advance milk price in November 2014 averaged € 34.10 per 100 kg standard milk. A decrease of € 1.65 compared to the previous month. Compared to November last year, this is a decrease of € 6.51 or 16.0%.
Lower prices
Almost all dairy companies have reduced their milk prices in November, while further price cuts have been announced for the coming months. Although the December milk prices are not yet fully known provisional figures for the calendar year 2014 can be produced. Depending on the height of the supplementary payments, the average price of milk in 2014 is probably at a little higher than in the record year 2013.
Differences
This is because the milk prices of the French and British dairy companies and Italian Granorolo rose more than 5%. The calculated advance milk prices of the Finnish Hameenlinnan Osuusmeijeri and the Danish Arla lying are about 2% higher than last year.
The advance milk price paid by FrieslandCampina has remained about the same, while the milk prices of the German dairy dairies fell 2-3%. The milk prices of the Irish companies, Milcobel and DOC Cheese in 2014 decreased by 5% or more.
Fonterra
On December 10, Fonterra has revised the expected price for the current milk price year 2014/15 from 5.30 NZD per kg fat and protein to 4.70. Converted in euros per 100 kg standard milk a drop of nearly 3 euros to € 23.86.
Organizational changes
From now on the milk price comparison is performed by ZuivelNL. Following the abolition of the Dutch Dairy Board a number of tasks, including this milk price comparison, are continued by ZuivelNL. The lay-out is adjusted, because the calculations are no longer executed in the computer program Oracle, but in Excel. In addition, starting this publication the rolling average of the monthly milk prices do no longer include the most recent supplementary payment, but the same information remains available.
